To get the Songs of Glimmerwick axe, play Chant of the Woodcutters, then click a dead tree in your garden. The axe appears when you use the spell; you do not need to find a separate axe first. Dean Clary teaches you the chant during the Botanical Garden tutorial.
How do I make the axe appear?
Learn the chant from Dean Clary
Follow Clary's garden tutorial in Campus Career until she gives you Chant of the Woodcutters. For the route into this tutorial, see the Songs of Glimmerwick walkthrough. Whether planting and watering basil first is required is not confirmed yet.
Play Chant of the Woodcutters
Take out your flute and play C → D → E. With default keyboard controls, press F → J → K; on Xbox, press D-pad Right → A → X. Release the final note to cast the spell. If you changed your bindings, follow the note sequence.
Click a dead tree in your garden
After playing the chant, click a dead tree. The axe appears to chop it into logs. Living trees are protected and cannot be cut.
Why is the axe not appearing?
The wording “enchant your axe” does not mean you must collect an axe beforehand. Use Chant of the Woodcutters rather than Song of Tilling, and target a dead tree in your garden.
Check these details before trying again:
- Keyboard octave: do not hold Space while playing the spell. It shifts the flute to the upper octave.
- Mana: chopping costs 45 mana per tree, or 36 once the chant is Perfected. Insufficient mana produces a buzz and makes the mana bar shake.
- Wrong note: restart the sequence from its first note without putting the flute away.
For a separate question about your instrument, see Songs of Glimmerwick flute types.
The chant clears dead trees. Weeds resist magic and require a scythe; use Songs of Glimmerwick how to get cut grass for that task. If the garden object you need to handle is a sprinkler, see Songs of Glimmerwick move sprinkler.
